Great Hires

Whatever your family’s interests, you are sure to find plenty to see and do in Harrisonville. From arts to sports, catching a movie, or getting involved in the ommunity, there is an organization or activity to fill your leisure time.

We may be partial, but we believe we really do have great parks. Just within the city limits, you’ll find 400 acres of park. The crown jewel at 275 acres is City Park - our largest. You can hike it or bike it, and enjoy the aquatic center, two lakes, two ponds, nine shelters, gazebo, tree nursery, amphitheatre, four tennis courts, two basketball courts, playground equipment and a nine-hole sand greens golf course.

During the hot days of summer, folks take to the water at the Aquatic Center. Our beautiful pool with eight 25-meter lanes, diving board, water slides and colorful fountains hosts summer programs for young and old, and is the home of the AquaCats youth swim team. Swimming lessons and aqua aerobics are available.

Got that competitive spirit? Want to make some new friends? We have a great slate of city and private athletic team competition including soccer, softball, baseball, football, tennis, volleyball, bowling and basketball leagues for adults as well as youth. Our residents choose from a number of fitness classes, sports camps and special athletic events.
Harrisonville began to boast the premier recreation center in the area immediately after our voters approved a quarter-cent sales tax for the Harrisonville Community Center. The building was completed in a matter of months, further evidence of Harrisonville’s commitment to families and quality of life. This 68,000 square foot facility contains a double court gymnasium with bleachers, three-lane running/walking track, six-lane pool, exercise and weight training, multipurpose community rooms and children’s party area.

If golf is your game, then Harrisonville is your place. The private membership Twin Pines Country Club and the Harrisonville Golf Club, Inc. are right in our city. Just fifteen minutes away is the public Blackberry Trails Golf Course, and the 54-hole Country Creek golf course is just north of the city.

We have plenty of other entertainment as well. Cinema Six shows the very latest first-run movies. Everyone tries to stay out of the gutter at Westchester Lanes, and we practice our shots at the Trap & Skeet Range. Outdoor enthusiasts find plenty of fishing and hunting opportunities at our nearby lakes and wildlife areas.
For those with hobbies less strenuous, antiquing enthusiasts find shops in Harrisonville a perfect place to browse. Whether you’re looking for early American primitive pieces, art deco, 50s retro or interesting collectables, you’ll want to check the great selection of booths at the Harrisonville Trade Fair.

The Harrisonville Senior Center is a favorite meeting place for our seniors. Potluck meals, bingo, cards and dancing is all part of the fun. Need some R&R after a long day at the office? Meet your friends of one of several bars in town for a cold one. Enjoy the music (or be part of it) at the nightclub on the Square, which features karaoke and live bands for fun with your friends. Harrisonville is rich with fun, with a large number of offerings for every stage of life!
