| The Cass County Alternative School is operated by the Harrisonville Cass R-IX School District and is open to students from seven other area districts. The alternative school provides a "fresh start" for at-risk students who have difficulties relating in a large school setting. The program provides specialized instruction and one-on-one attention.
Cass Career Center is the district's career and technical center. Eleven area schools send students to the school's 13 technical programs. The LPN program at Cass Career Center is outstanding with a State Board exam pass rate of 94.1 percent. A new blended learning program has begun, giving students the opportunity to earn an Associates Degree to become an RN. CCC also offers adult community education evening classes in computer technology, electricity, welding, crafts, health care and personal enrichment.
Head Start is a federal program for pre-school children (ages three to five) from low-income families. Children participate in a variety of educational activities, receive free medical screenings and meals in a safe setting.
Briarwood State School provides special educational services to mentally and physically disabled students ages five through 21. | | At Harrisonville Christian School, Gospel values are taught in a God-centered environment. The curriculum emphasizes development of the child academically as well as spiritually, culturally, emotionally, physically and socially. Students excel in statewide competitions. Accredited by the Assocation of Christian Schools International, HCS serves children in grades preschool through eight.
For those pursuing higher education, both community and four-year colleges are within an easy commute from Harrisonville. Longview College, a member of the Metropolitan Community Colleges, Avila University, Rockhurst University, the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Webster University are within a short driving distance.
